An old bus in Hilo Hawaii near the Queen Lliliuokalani Gardens. The 808 telephone area code covers the inhabited developed and uninhabited areas of the Hawaiian Islands out to Midway Island and Wake Island. 808 was issued as Hawaii's area code shortly after its statehood in 1959.
Komo mai (Welcome) Traveler, Percussionist, History buff, and Photographer. Photography from The Beautiful Lehigh Valley Pa. to the Amazingly Beautiful Hawaiian Islands.. I have found over these past 35+ years, that photography, can sometimes be over complicated as a means to confuse the layman or empower the pro. Therefore I tend to keep things simple. Photography to me is simply a way to capture the moment in a way that pleases thine eyes and exude a mood or feeling. I hope you like what I see and create with my vision. Here on this site, I have mixed in some of my older film shots as well as the more current digital captures. I do not use Artificial Intelligence. Many thanks for your interest in my work, DJ Just...

Yep. That's when we were there. We were over by the Tori gate crosswalk about then. LOL

OMG!! We were there on the same day!! How funny. Yes - Coconut Island is awesome as well. You didn't happen to eat at the Coconut Grill that day did you? Their plate lunch is ONO!!
DJ Florek replied:
We had a picnic in the gardens that day then we went downtown to the market and Tsunami Museum. The time stamp is 12:31 on this pic. What a small world we live in.. Eh. We didn't try the Coconut Grill... maybe next time.

I've seen them cruising around -- just saw them in October when I was standing almost in that exact spot. Isn't that a gorgeous park? Great photo!! Featured in Hawaiiana! Aloha!!
DJ Florek replied:
Mahalo Jane, BTW I shot this on the 9th of October. LOVE the park and Coconut Island as well.
