Description
Scene here is a bench at the entrance to the Dobbin house which is the oldest building in Gettysburg Pa. Built in 1776 it is listed on the National Register of Historical Places. It is located right across the street from where Abraham Lincoln presented the famous Gettysburg Address. The most important feature of this house is that it was a stopping point for slaves during the Underground Railroad. The slaves who stopped at the Dobbin house, on their way to freedom in Canada, generally hid in small, secret hiding places that were located under the floor and in the walls. Those hiding places are still in the Dobbin Inn for guests to see. The ghost of Alexander Dobbin, founder of the Inn, is still seen around the house smoking a cigar. People believe that the slaves who came to this house never really left. Apparitions of slaves have been spotted through out the house, even in the hiding places. It is believed that the soldiers who fought in the Battle of Gettysburg haunt the Inn. Guests and employees of the Inn have spotted mysterious, reoccurring blood stains on the floor boards. The whole of Gettysburg has got an eerie feel and this spot is even creepier. I got a reenactor to lay on the bench and I took a second capture. Later layering the two images and adjusted the opacity to create this ghostly image.

Many Thanks Angela :) My wife and I have never tried this place. It was very busy the last time we were there. Now we have to try it :)
