Description
The fields of Gettysburg Pennsylvania USA. This is the McPherson farm during sunset with a lone tree on the horizon. The farm is located near the road to Chambersburg and in the fields where Buford's dismounted cavalry engaged and temporarily held the advancing Confederate forces during the battle of Gettysburg on July 1st 1863.The house burned in 1895. The barn is the last survivor of Edward McPhersons buildings, restored by the National Park Service in 1978. It is currently used by a local farmer who also leases the McPherson fields for crops and grazing.
